InPrint Munich – Opening new paths for print in industrial production
Every two years, world-leading print tech suppliers gather at InPrint Munich to present their latest developments in digital, inkjet, screen, and speciality printing, redefining the role of print technology in on-demand production, mass-customisation, and cost-efficient processing of goods, products, and packaging.
The co-location of the exhibition and the technical conference at InPrint 2022 provides a unique opportunity to see inkjet printing machinery in action on the one hand, and at the same time to learn about the technology that enables these machines.
Profactor brings expertise to the conference with contributions from Leo Schranzhofer und Michael Mühlberger.
Robo Inkjet – digital printing goes 3D
- Speaker: Dr. Leo Schranzhofer
- CV: Leo Schranzhofer is Lead Scientist and Head of the Functional Surfaces and Nanostructures team at PROFACTOR. He has a doctorate in chemistry from University of Vienna, specialized in analytical chemistry and chemical sensors. At Profactor he specialized in the last years on post processing, curing and sintering, especially in printed electronics and inkjet printing before taking over the lead in 2021. There he focused on photonic curing and sintering methods based on Xenon and IR sources, as well as lasers and how to include it into defined fabrication processes.
- Abstract: Digital printing on freeform surfaces gains a lot of interest from industry. The ability to digitally print a pattern, text or image onto a freeform object revolutionizes the way products and parts are produced, designed, decorated or coated. An enabling technology driving this trend is robot based inkjet printing, which potentially allows highly flexible, automated multimaterial/multilayer digital printing onto a large number of parts and products. We will present an overview on that technology, insights into current challenges and tackled applications and projects as well as an outlook where the journey is heading to.

Opportunities and Challenges for Inkjetprinting on Micro- and Nanopatterned Substrates
- Speaker: Dr. Michael Mühlberger
- CV: Michael Mühlberger is Senior Scientist in the Functional Surfaces and Nanostructures department at PROFACTOR. The main focus of his work is nanoimprint technology, a method for the replication of micro- and nanostructures, where he has been active in since 2004. The field of applications of nanoimprinting ranges from optics and life sciences to electronics and decorative printing. The combination of nanoimprinting with inkjet printing is starting to evolve as an interesting R&D topic. Recently also roll-to-plate nanoimprinting has been added to the technology portfolio at PROFACTOR. Michael Mühlberger received his PhD in physics from the Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria). He is co-author of more than 100 scientific papers and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the international micro- and nanoengineering society (iMNEs), member of the Program Committee of the European Mask and Lithography Conference (EMLC) and Member of the Steering Committee of the NILindustialday.
- Abstract: : In inkjetprinting the behaviour of the deposited droplet on the surface of the substrate is crucial for the final printing result. We investigate how inkjet deposited liquids behave on substrates that have a micro- or nanostructure. To prepare the micro- or nanopatterns we use another printing technique, which is nanoimprinting. Using roller-based (roll-to-plate or roll-to-sheet) UV-curing nanoimprinting we prepare surfaces with different micro- and nanoscale textures. We will present results, discuss opportunities and challenges.
