The research project InstructMe deals with the issues of a highly raising variance and volatility in production and aims the reduction of planning and executing new production processes. Coincidentally also the operational knowledge of experienced workers and experts should be passed and conserved beyond production and planning processes.
The approach needs the combination and integration of multiple technologies. In the project a multi-modal sensors system is developed, that records the working steps of a worker during a specific production task and interprets the single steps of this recorded task in a semi-automatic way using a highly sophisticated recognition algorithm.
The software module extracts production-relevant information of the recorded data stream A differentiation between low-level actions and high-level activities is made (an activity consists of more than one actions).
The extracted information is converted into a generic data model to cover a widespread field of application for the gathered data.
The project InstructMe handles with three different fields of application:
- Preparation of textual, manual working procedures
- Preparation of working procedures for a semi-automated working place (human machine interaction)
- Preparation of working procedures for fully automated tasks (machine programs)
